Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Dawn.

Hi Jessica, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My story begins about 10 years ago when I was blessed with the opportunity to plan weddings on Mackinac Island. It was here that my love for weddings really flourished. I was thrown into a busy wedding season, in which we would have 6 weddings going on in one day! It was wild, crazy, and absolutely perfect. I knew in this moment that I was where I was supposed to be.

Over the years, I stayed in the Event Industry, but in all sorts of different capacities. At one point, I was brought to St. Louis, MO to work as a Sales Manager at a 4-diamond hotel that specialized in Professional Sporting events – including NFL, MLB, & NHL teams. Talk about an experience!

I then traveled to different venues around Michigan, planning events and weddings of all sorts, until I had my son – who is my biggest blessing!

When my son got a little older, I realized I was missing something in my life – my purpose outside of being “mom.” Shortly after this realization, a close friend asked me to work for her part-time as a Bridal Stylist at her Bridal Salon. I was instantly in love as I realized how much I had missed all things wedding-related. Part-time quickly became full-time, and then I felt a nudge from the Holy Spirit that it was time for something bigger.

This something bigger happened to be opening my own Wedding Planning business. On the day of the launch, I had never felt more fulfilled. It was SO exhilarating! I continue to be in awe as the company flourishes. I feel so grateful that God chose me to fulfill this plan and help so many couples plan their wedding day. It is truly an honor to be a part of such an intimate moment in their lives. I can’t wait to see where the rest of my story takes me!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
If anyone ever answers yes to this question, I’ve got to meet them! LOL!! I think most business owners (and people in general) can agree that there were LOTS of struggles that led them to where they are today.

For me, my biggest struggle was when I became a single Mom to my son. My personal life and successes were put on hold while I tried to put the pieces back together.

After lots of praying, I was granted an opportunity that changed my life. As I mentioned before, one of my dearest friends offered me a position as a Bridal Stylist at her Bridal Salon (The Dress Shop in Howell, MI – if you haven’t gone, please go!).

This position sparked the fire in me I had been missing. It reminded me of my love for weddings and building relationships with couples. I loved every second of being there, but I kept feeling like there was something bigger out there for me. One day, while I was quarantined with COVID, I heard my favorite song come on the radio. This song inspired me to “Fear No More” and make the leap I had been so fearful of making… opening my own business. And here we are!

Without the struggles, I never would be where I am today – living out the life God always had planned for me.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Fear No More is a full-service wedding planning company. We offer services starting at Day-of Coordination, to Even Design, to Full-Service Wedding Planning. I am so proud of the company and how much we have already grown! As much as we love using our creativity to bring a couple’s vision to life, we love the logistical side just as much. With a strong background in event logistics from a venue’s standpoint, Fear No More knows all that can be anticipated on your wedding day and how to prepare for it. If you were to ask one of our couples what makes Fear No More stand apart from the rest, they would probably respond that you feel like a best friend from the moment we answer the phone. It’s so important to us that we have fun in the process of the planning and that every person feels loved, unique, and heard. Every couple has a story, and we genuinely want to hear it!

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
This may sound crazy, but I don’t personally believe in “luck”! I believe in God’s timing and believe that good and bad things can happen in our lives and that those shape us into who we are today. God always has a plan, and when we are in a particularly rough spot it just means our story isn’t done being told. My advice for those in a rough spot, whether in life or in business, is to stay strong! Try to remember that these moments just mean there is something so much better and brighter down the road. If I would’ve let the “bad luck” moments get the best of me, I never would be where I am now – Running a business that speaks to my heart and soul!
